For them, you are like a unique tree laden with ripe and tasty fruits that people want; so they throw stones at the tree to get the fruit. If you have no fruit, nobody will bother. The Great Buddha concludes that you must have done something good; therefore, you should be proud of yourself.

A thought that came to my mind is an ancient verse from the Upanishads: Om Purnamadah Purnamidam. This is just the first part of the mantra; what it implies is that everything in the universe is part of divinity that is essentially complete and perfect, even it we may detect imperfections. We are perfect as we are no matter what others say about us, and our job in to discover this in life and unfold its beauty. In other words: Be the best version of who we are....
